Building a Pond — How to Build a Pond

How to Build Your Own Water Garden Pond

The following diagram illustrates the mechanics of a Pond:

From this you can see that there needs to be a hole dug in the ground

There are five important steps about building a pond:

  1. First you need to pick the design of the pond and waterfall that you would like to build.
  2. You will also need a skimmer, a filter for the skimmer, a bottom drain, a pump and a biological filter.
  3. Then you will need the appropriate size pond liner.
  4. After the pond liner is put down you would add the pond rocks.
  5. Then you add water.
  6. Pick some plants and fish and your pond is complete.

You can see this illustrated below:

If you are interested in seeing in person each step required to install a rubber liner pond yourself, be sure and attend one of our Build a Pond Day events.
